Bond construction underway at Ellis Elementary

Groundwork for the future addition at Ellis Elementary

April 5, 2017 - Bond construction at Ellis Elementary is now fully underway. Site work started several weeks ago and drilling piers for an addition should start next week. Demolition of the back canopy is happening this week.

The addition at Ellis will house two STEM labs, a strings room and a music room and is scheduled to be ready in time for next school year. In the existing building, the computer lab will be converted into a classroom and a new security vestibule will be added at the school entrance.

Ellis will also receive a number of other life-cycle and deficiency upgrades, including new HVAC units and electrical improvements like additional plugs in each classroom. A new gym floor has already been installed.

Outside the building, parking will be added, the existing parking lot will be resurfaced and restriped and the pick-up/drop-off area will be improved. A fire loop around the building will also be added, which will help get buses out of the way of other traffic. Three new basketball courts will be added since the current courts will get covered when the portables are moved out of the way of construction.
