AISD works to set up project management software

E-Builder training meeting

E-Builder employees visited Arlington last week to continue the process of setting up the e-Builder software for the Arlington Independent School District. E-Builder is a project management system that will help the district manage all construction projects more effectively and efficiently. “We are automating something that has never been automated,” said Javier Fernandez, AISD director of facilities planning and construction.

All parties involved in the AISD’s capital projects, including the AISD, architects and construction managers, will be able to communicate and share information on this single platform. E-builder will host budgets, plans, calendars, reports, documents and more. “This integrated tool provides us a collaborative environment to increase efficiencies, accountability and visibility for all our projects," said Mel Perez, AISD database specialist in the facility planning and construction department.

The software will also assist with producing status reports on the progress of the AISD’s capital projects, which can then be shared with the public. This will prove especially useful for communicating progress of the 2014 Bond package.

Setting up the new software is a months long project that began in April. The e-Builder employee team that visited last week spent Tuesday-Friday meeting with AISD facilities and finance staff to determine the structure of the system and how the workflows within it will operate. Configuration will continue for the next two months and training for the full rollout of e-Builder will begin in late July.
