Bowie High School auditorium reopens after renovations Renovations included lighting, rigging, sound, more

September 2019 - The auditorium at Bowie High School reopened this month after several months of renovations.

The auditorium and stage received new lighting, sound, A/V system, curtain, motorized rigging, draperies, fire curtain, carpet and seating.

The renovations were part of many Bond 2014 projects at Bowie. The scope of work included a number of renovations for fine arts, career tech and athletics spaces. It also included lifecycle and deficiency upgrades throughout the building and grounds, like upgrades to the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology systems. Other projects focused on accessibility, including replacing and/or adding sidewalks and ramps and renovating restrooms and locker rooms to make them ADA-compliant.

Like the renovations at Bowie, the 2014 Bond program is quickly wrapping up. The final major project is the AISD’s future Fine Arts Center and Athletics Complex, currently under construction and scheduled to open in the fall of 2020.
