I have not always been the average, or picture perfect agriculturist which is why I am so inspired by my job daily. I joined agriculture classes when I was a sophomore in high school, showed a swine project and immediately fell in love with the industry and what it had to offer. I hit the ground running and participated in leadership opportunities, career development events and exhibited several animal projects.

Agriculture allowed me to better equip myself for college and future careers as well as defining my role as a leader and helped me excel in time management, responsibility and communication. Agriculture has also given me the chance to build relationships, connections and establish a close knit relationship with my family, whom I traveled miles with to compete.

Everyday I am reminded of why I enjoy the industry, and that there is no timeline or cookie cutter example of an agriculturist, which is why I am excited to be one of the agriculture science teachers serving students from all over AISD.
