Vision and hearing screenings are provided for grades Pre-K 4, K, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades. Scoliosis screening is provided for 5th grades. In addition, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades will be screened for Acanthosis Nigricans. Referrals are sent home when students do not meet state-mandated screening criteria. It is important that you follow up with your private medical provider for further evaluation. These screening do not replace the recommended routine evaluations with your private medical provider.

WHEN YOUR CHILD IS ILL:

A student with a fever of 100 degrees or more is excluded from school. Students need to be fever free without the use of Tylenol or other fever-reducing medications for 24 hours before returning to school. Students with vomiting or diarrhea should be free of these symptoms for 24 hours before returning to school. Undiagnosed rashes are also excluded from school. In addition, students with pink eye are excluded from school until under appropriate treatment. With regards to lice, students are excluded from school until treated with the appropriate product and are cleared by the school nurse. These guidelines are implemented as an infection control measure to protect our students and faculty. If your child is ill, please keep him/her at home.

WHEN YOUR CHILD VISITS THE CLINIC:

When your child is seen in the clinic, the nurse may either call or send a note home with your child if deemed necessary. If your child is ill or has a serious injury, the nurse will contact a parent or emergency contact. Minor scrapes, bumps, and bruises are treated, and the child is sent back to class. When you come to pick up your child from the clinic or office for any reason, please bring identification. Identification may be requested on anyone coming to pick up your child. Please keep emergency phone numbers and emergency contact persons current in the front office.
