Early College High School Programs

We understand that one of the biggest concerns parents have is the future cost of college. With Arlington ISD Early College High School options, students can earn an associate degree for free!

With three programs to choose from, students can graduate from high school with up to 60 college credits and some with a professional workplace certification, paid for by the Arlington ISD. They can gain a head start in college or launch right into a successful career.

Give them early access to career success in health sciences, cybersecurity, business, logistics, engineering or any number of other promising industries!

At Wimbish World Language Academy, your child will receive all the benefits of the Arlington ISD whole-child education plus the opportunity to nurture their passions and develop mastery in two languages, English and Spanish or English and French.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will the application window begin and end?

The application window for the 2024 - 2025 school year opens Tuesday, Oct. 24, at noon and closes on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024 at 5 p.m.

What information is needed to apply for a specialized program?

The application requires the student's date of birth, student ID number and a working email address. This should be a family email address that is checked regularly. It cannot be a student’s Arlington ISD email address assigned to them by the district.

How does a student apply for a specialized program?

An application must be completed for consideration to a specialized program. Families can apply for up to three specialized programs and rank them by first, second and third choice.

Are specialized programs open for out-of-district student transfers?

Yes. Residents outside of Arlington ISD boundaries will be offered admission after all Arlington ISD residents have been placed.

Can students currently enrolled in one specialized program transfer into another specialized program?

No. Since the criteria for each program differs, specialized programs are not open to internal transfers.

What internet browser is required to submit an online application?

For Windows desktops and laptops and Android phones, Chrome is best to complete the online application. For iPhones and iPads, please use the Safari browser.

What help is available for the online application?

Can changes be made to the online application after it is submitted?

Changes cannot be made to the application once it is submitted, so carefully confirm all information is correct before submitting.

Is it possible to apply for a specialized program after the application deadline is over?

If families miss the fall application window, they should continue to monitor the specialized programs webpage for a second application window.

How is the application process different for a student whose sibling currently attends a specialized program?

Students are encouraged to apply for any programs of interest. Siblings are given weighted consideration during the scoring process, but there is no guarantee of acceptance to the program.

When are families contacted about acceptance to a specialized program?

Invitations for specialized programs will be sent out on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at 4:30 p.m., directly from specialized program campuses. Families receive one notification, either an invitation from a specialized program campus or an email explaining other opportunities if a student is not accepted into a specialized program. Families do not receive communication from each program selected on the application.

How does a student accept an invitation to a specialized program?

An invitation to a specialized program must be accepted by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, to guarantee placement. Directions for how to accept the invitation are included in the invitation sent by the specialized program campus.

How do campuses fill spots that become available after the application window is closed?

Campuses use a waiting list when open spots occur in their program.

What transportation services are available?

Transportation is available for students living within Arlington ISD boundaries who are accepted into a specialized program.

What extracurricular options are available in a secondary specialized program?

At the Arlington High School and Fine Arts and Dual Language program, P-TECH campuses and the Martin STEM Academy, students can participate in extracurricular options at the assigned campus while working on the requirements of their program. Though extracurricular options are not available at the early college high schools, they do offer a variety of clubs and intramural athletic opportunities.
