Advanced Placement (AP)

Advanced Placement courses allow students to engage in challenging coursework with an opportunity to earn college credit. All Arlington ISD high schools offer AP courses in language arts, math, science, social studies, computer science, foreign language, music and art. Some junior high campuses offer AP Spanish.

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)

AVID is a course for first-generation students that sets them on a path for higher education. This key program is offered at all six traditional Arlington ISD high schools and all 10 junior high schools. The program is designed to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college. AVID students take classes as part of their regular schedule and get time with college tutors. AVID students learn all the necessary steps needed to attend college including test prep, applying for financial aid and college admission requirements. More than 3,000 Arlington ISD students participate in AVID, and seniors earned more than $35.1 million in grants and scholarships in 2021 - 2022.

Dual Credit

Dual credit courses provide an opportunity for high school students to earn college credit before they graduate from high school. Students can choose from several dual credit courses at all traditional high schools. These courses have prerequisites, including successful completion of a college readiness assessment.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

International Baccalaureate is a leadership program that provides education with a global perspective. The rigorous academic program emphasizes student initiative and independent study. The focus is on academics and developing a global perspective of the world. Crow Leadership Academy for K-6 offers the PYP (Primary Years Programme) of IB. Participation in the high school IB program begins in 11th grade. Through the high school program, students can earn free college credit and access scholarship opportunities. Additionally, all students from traditional high schools can take IB Visual Arts at the Arlington ISD Center for Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA).

Every student deserves the opportunity to distinguish themself academically.

Arlington ISD will provide your student with a world-class education.
