Dear Bowie Parents and Guardians,
We want to update you on the plan in the wake of Wednesday’s tragic shooting at Bowie High School. There will be no classes at Bowie on Friday, April 25. Classes will resume on Monday, April 29. Counselors will be available for students and staff at Bowie starting Friday from 9 a.m. until noon. Check-in for counseling will be in the cafeteria. There will also be counselors at Bowie next week for anyone who needs them.
Students who need to retrieve essential items left on campus can do so Friday morning. Students with last names that end in A-L can come to the campus from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Students with last names that end in M-Z can come from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Metal detectors will be used, and students will be escorted to get their essential items. Students must have an ID or a parent with an ID. Family members can wait in the cafeteria while essential items are picked up. Essential items not picked up Friday can be picked up Monday before first period.
Monday will be an A day at school, and backpacks can be picked up beginning at 7:35 a.m.

Are they allowed to pick up purses or they have to wait for that as well
James Bowie High School come Monday can the student just get their items themselves for a parent have to be there as well?

Queremos informarle sobre el plan tras el trágico tiroteo del miércoles en Bowie High School. No habrá clases en Bowie el viernes 25 de abril. Las clases se reanudarán el lunes 28 de abril. Los consejeros estarán disponibles para los estudiantes y el personal de Bowie a partir del viernes desde las 9 a. m. hasta el mediodía. El registro para recibir asesoramiento será en la cafetería. También habrá consejeros en Bowie la próxima semana para cualquiera que los necesite.
Los estudiantes que necesiten recuperar artículos esenciales que quedaron en el campus pueden hacerlo el viernes por la mañana. Los estudiantes con apellidos que terminan en A-L pueden venir al campus de 9 a.m. a 10:30 a.m. Los estudiantes con apellidos que terminan en M-Z pueden venir desde las 10:30 a.m. hasta el mediodía. Se utilizarán detectores de metales y se acompañará a los estudiantes para que obtengan sus artículos esenciales. Los estudiantes deben tener una identificación o un padre con una identificación. Los familiares pueden esperar en la cafetería mientras se recogen los artículos esenciales. Los artículos esenciales que no se recojan el viernes se pueden recoger el lunes antes del primer período.

Que bueno que exista la consejeria para los estudiantes y el personal de Bowie pero, ¿y los padres? Estamos devastados también ante esta noticia. Aunque no conocimos al niño que le arrebataron la vida, si nos duele porque era un niño como el que todos nosotros tenemos. Duele la familia que esta destrozada y también nos preocupa que esto se siga dando. ¿Cómo padres, cómo podremos procesar todo ésto?

I believe y’all definitely shouldn’t have school tomorrow either. These kids are traumatized especially like my brother and sister whose classes were right by where it happened. They especially don’t want to go back knowing the gun still hasn’t been found.

James Bowie High School will classes resume tomorrow or on Monday? My child is a freshman here and says they are out on tomorrow.

I’m a Bowie graduate from 1997 and have been following the events that occurred today very closely. Just wanted to share a few thoughts on this thread. First and foremost… Please keep everyone that has been impacted by this incident in your thoughts and prayers and be there to support each other as everyone deals with this the best way they can. Secondly, despite some unwarranted criticism from parents on social media… I want to commend the school staff for their leadership and ability to effectively communicate and coordinate a large scale response with absolutely no notice whatsoever. Thank you for standing your ground against some very demanding people and putting the safety and security of the students first throughout the day today.
