School Hours: 8:10 AM - 3:35 PM

Arrival

First Bell: 8:00 AM
Tardy Bell: 8:10 AM

The front door will be opened at 7:40 a.m. Prior to 7:40, there is no supervision for students on campus. Parents are encouraged to keep their children at home before this time for safety reasons. All children in the pre-kindergarten program are to report to the Pre-K "pod" on the east side of the main building when they arrive and should be picked up there after school.

Students in kindergarten through sixth grade arriving after 7:40 a.m. but before 8:10 a.m. are to report to the cafeteria where members of the staff are on duty.

Children may not go to the classrooms or stay in the hall before dismissal from the cafeteria or the gym. In the case of bad weather or at parent/student request, children will be seated by grade level until dismissal from the cafeteria or gym.

Children are expected to follow school rules. They are to bring something to study or something to read.

Tardies

Punctuality is very important at Goodman Elementary. Students are expected to be in class, seated, and ready to learn by 8:10 a.m. This will ensure maximum use of their class time. Any student arriving after the 8:10 bell is considered tardy for school and required to obtain a tardy pass. This is in accordance with the AISD Student Code of Conduct. The AISD Student Code of Conduct also states that students must be in attendance 90% of each semester. Students who fail to attend school 90% of the semester may place promotion to the next grade level in jeopardy.

Please help us in making school attendance and punctuality a priority. Beginning the day promptly is important and demonstrates commitment to success. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that your child is at school on time.

Dismissal

Classes are dismissed at 3:35 p.m. The duty day for staff is over at 3:50 p.m. Please pick up your child (ren) promptly to assure their safety. Unless the parents have called due to an emergency, or the child is involved in a recognized after school program (choir, science club, tutorials) students are expected to be off campus no later than 3:45 (11:30 for morning pre-K students).

Office staff must notify the Arlington Police if they are unable to make parent contact and if students have not been picked up within a reasonable time frame. In good weather, parents picking up children are asked to wait outside for their children. In bad weather, they may wait in the cafeteria. If the children are to walk home with neighbors or siblings, determine a meeting place for all of them to meet outside.

Students will not be allowed to go into the building to pick up a brother or sister. Except in emergency situations, once students have left the building for the day, they may not come back into the building. In emergency situations, they are to come through the front door to the office.
