Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Arrival
Arrival procedures will be the same as last year. For arrival in the morning, all students in Kindergarten-6th grade will enter at the cafeteria door. Students will have the choice to get breakfast from 7:45-8:00. If they choose to not eat breakfast, then they will be directed to the gym where they will wait with their grade level peers until teachers come to escort them to their grade level PODS. Make sure your child knows that they must eat breakfast first and then go to the gym. If students arrive after 8:00, then they will be given a Grab-n-Go breakfast to eat in their classrooms so they don’t miss instruction that will begin at 8:10 every day. The only students who will need to be dropped off at their designated POD doors at arrival time will be our PK4, ECSE, and Alt.
Curriculum students - They will be received by teachers or staff members at the door and taken to their classrooms. Their breakfast will be served to them in the cafeteria after 8:10 so they can eat as a class. Make sure you ask your child’s teacher which door they expect your child to enter through.
Dismissal
Dismissal procedures will remain the same as last year. If siblings walk home together, the older sibling will have to walk around the exterior of the building and pick up their sibling(s) at the appropriate door and then walk home. We highly encourage students to use the school/district provided walkways to get home each day. However, if you want your child to take a shortcut on the way home that is not school created, then the school will not be liable if your child gets hurt on their way home. At dismissal time, if a parent/family member/designated person is walking up to pick up a child, then please make sure he or she goes to the correct door and make sure you have your color-coded pick-up sign. If you are driving through to pick up your child at dismissal, please make sure you enter the right lane and stop at the correct doors for each of your children. The left lane will be for cars driving around to exit the dismissal area. Do NOT park your car and get out in either of the dismissal lanes. This slows down the traffic flow and can block people in. If you are wanting to walk up to get your child, please find a parking space to park in and then you may exit your vehicle. Parked cars will NOT be allowed in dismissal lanes.
Late Duty - If you have not picked up your child by 3:50, your child will be escorted to the library where they will remain during late duty pickup. If you have your pick-up sign for your child, then go to Door 2 to show your pick-up sign to campus personnel on duty. Your child will then be released. If anyone picking up your child does NOT have your pick-up sign, they will need to go to Door 1 located outside the front office where the office staff will verify their ID and ensure that they are authorized to pick up your child. Only in emergency situations will a photocopy of the ID be accepted, but please try to always have a physical copy of your ID when coming to the campus. Once that information is verified, then your child will be escorted to the front door exit and released. If you happen to be extremely late to pick up your child, then a campus administrator may contact AISD security or Grand Prairie Police Department. If there seems to be an unsafe pattern of late pickups, then campus administration may reach out to Child Protective Services on behalf of the child.
