A few reminders before the long weekend:
📅 NO SCHOOL Monday, October 12! Students return Tuesday.
📚 Progress reports will be available in the Parent Portal on Wednesday, October 14.
🚫 NO GLASS OR METAL BOTTLES! This includes reusable and disposable glass drink bottles (yes, even Calypso Lemonade!), metal water bottles, and tumblers. All refillable water bottles must be clear or see-through.
Please help us keep Barnett safe by checking what your Bear brings to school.

Scheduling is officially OPEN! Families select their actual conference time, and appointments are first come, first served. Once a time is taken, it’s gone, so please don’t wait if you would like to meet with one of your student’s teachers.
🚨 IF IT DOESN’T BELONG TO YOU, DON’T TAKE IT.
Taking or hiding someone else’s belongings isn’t a joke. Please help us reinforce the importance of respecting other people and their property with your Bear this weekend.
Barnett Families, this is one I really need you to read.
We have seen an increase in some serious student behaviors, and I am asking every family to have a direct conversation with your Bear this weekend.
This week’s Bear Necessities addresses:
📱 Privacy, recording, AI and social media 🚫 Personal boundaries and keeping hands to yourself ⏰ Getting to class on time ⚠️ Understanding that “it was just a joke” does not erase the impact or consequences of a poor choice
Junior high students are going to make mistakes. Our job is to teach, redirect, and help them learn. But some choices can have consequences that extend well beyond the classroom.
I would much rather we have these conversations with our students before a poor decision becomes a consequence that cannot be taken back.

This week's update includes a personal reflection on the 25th anniversary of September 11, along with several important updates for our families.
🎒 FIRST, I need a favor from EVERY Barnett family this weekend: Check your student's backpack!
District Chromebooks are NOT permitted to go home. If you find one at home, please let us know and make sure it returns to Barnett on Monday. Students must turn their Chromebook in to their 7th period teacher every day before leaving campus.
