Welcome to the Rankin Elementary website; I hope you find the following information regarding our school very useful. Rankin Elementary is a Title I campus that serves a rather diverse population of 700 PreK to 6th grade students. Our multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, student population is composed of 67% Hispanic, 14% African American, 16% White, and 3% Asian, American Indian, or Pacific Islander. ESL and bilingual students are an important part of our student body and are all served in self-contained classrooms. One of our primary goals at Rankin is to instill in each child the understanding that one's character determines one's future. Each grade level studies the Six Pillars of Character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship) through our Character Counts curriculum. Through the skills learned in these lessons, every child is introduced to the skills to be successful not only in school but also throughout life. Sincerely, |
