This week's Falcon of the Week was written by Glen Brunk: As we celebrate the career of Leslie Lambert this week I was thinking about all of the impact she has had at Farrell and wanted to nominate her for Falcon of the Week. Lambert has been a constant, reliable presence in our special education department for many many years. She has such a strong desire to provide support for students with learning challenges, and those who have had her support have been better because of it. These last couple of years she has taken on a leadership role on the team and has worked very hard to organize everything and meet all of the legal requirements while numbers of students with learning challenges has increased significantly. Lambert also has spent a lot of time over the years (and especially this year) supporting students with social and emotional challenges that disrupt their learning and the learning of others. She was a huge help with that last week. Thank you, Leslie Lambert for your many years of service to Farrell Elementary.

The only thing that would have made this year even better would have been the
opportunity to watch Leslie perform in a STAAR Pep Rally routine. IYKYK

This week's Falcon of the Week was written by Karrie Hermance (with possibly from help from Cameron): There are many educators who do things every day that are in the foreground and evident for everyone to easily see; Imagine Math posters in the PLC room, CA/Benchmark data on the data dashboard etc. Then there are those educators
whose work can oftentimes, though remarkable, not receive as much attention. One of Farrell’s greatest background workers is Steven Burgin. Throughout the entirety of the year Mr. Burgin has been taking, collecting, editing and organizing pictures to create an amazing, and representative yearbook for Farrell. Mr. Burgin, after teaching his students to create their art, displays it for the students to see. Their work can be seen in the PDC, Arlington Museum of Art, or up and down the school art hallway. This gives students a feeling of being noticed and valued for their work and inspires them to try to continue to do even better on the next project. Are you wearing a school shirt from this year? If so, then there is a good chance that Mr. Burgin designed it, and if he didn’t, he certainly would have been happy to. Mr. Burgin designed our Farrell Falcon Creed posters that we have all throughout the building. Additionally, Mr. Burgin stays outside after school every day past the time he needs to help dismiss students whose parents have come late. Did I mention that I’m pretty sure he did a cartwheel at the STAAR Pep Rally! Thank you for all the behind the scenes work that you do every day to make Farrell the Very Best School it can be.
