Flu season is just around the corner. Here are some guidelines for when to keep your children at home and when they can return to school. If you have any questions, you may contact me at 682-867-1706.

KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME WHEN:

  • Child has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher
  • Child has diarrhea or vomiting
  • Child has a rash of unknown origin
  • Child has red, runny eyes or wakes up with eyes “glued” shut
  • Child complains of ear pain with or without fever

YOUR CHILD MAY RETURN TO SCHOOL WHEN:

  • Child is fever free for 24 hours without the use of Tylenol or Advil
  • Child is free of diarrhea and vomiting for 24 hours
  • You have consulted a physician for the appropriate therapy related to their illness

If your child needs to take medication at school, a medication request must be filled out and signed by your healthcare provider. The medication must be brought to the clinic by a parent in the original container along with the signed request.
