Ready to welcome the summer solstice with a soundtrack? June 21, the world transforms into one giant, open-air stage for World Music Day!

🎵 Turn Up the Volume: Your Family’s Global Summer Soundtrack Starts Now! 🎸
Ready to welcome the summer solstice with an epic family soundtrack? On June 21, the entire planet transforms into one giant, open-air stage for World Music Day (or Fête de la Musique, as they say in France!).

Started in Paris in 1982, this global festival has one beautiful, simple rule: Music must be free, live, and everywhere. It’s the ultimate way to kick off summer and sneak a little global culture into your kids' vacation!

Want to keep the cultural learning alive all summer long? Start with these three family challenges on June 21:

🎹 3 Ways Your Family Can Celebrate
Host a "Junk Drawer" Jam Session: You don't need fancy instruments to be a performer. Grab some Tupperware drums, rice-filled shaking eggs, or a tissue-box guitar. Head out to the porch or backyard and make some noise!

Go on a "Sound Safari": Head downtown or to a local park. Ditch the headphones, open your ears, and see how many different instruments or styles of music your kids can spot.

Take a Global Sonic Trip: Fire up Spotify or YouTube and pick a country your family knows nothing about. Listen to traditional sounds from West Africa, Mongolian throat singing, or Colombian Cumbia. Ask the kids: How does this music make your body want to move?

Summer-Long Culture Tip: Keep a "Musical Passport" on the fridge! Every week this summer, let a different family member pick a new country. Listen to their top charts, map where they are in the world, and discover how music connects us all. 🌍✨

What’s going to be the first song on your family's summer playlist? Let us know in the comments! 👇

Join us for the 3rd edition of Fête de la Musique in Dallas on June 27, starting at 6:00 PM, at The Wild Detectives.

Celebrate the spirit of this iconic French music festival with an evening of live music, cultural exchange, and festive energy.

We’re excited to welcome special guest Elkin Pautt, an Afro-Colombian music producer and DJ based in Dallas, originally from Brooklyn. Deeply influenced by West African sounds, his music blends international rhythms, electronica, and analog synthesis into immersive, feel-good sets that bring people together on the dance floor.

Also joining us is David Mouyal, whose live guitar performances will add a unique touch to the evening’s musical mix, and also other talented artists!

Come celebrate music, discover new artists, and enjoy a summer evening filled with live performances, dancing, and community.
