HorsePower Drone Team Competes At Advanced Vertical Robotics Competition

The week before Thanksgiving our AHS drones team competed at the Advanced Vertical Robotics Competition.

Our program has grown a bit and we now have two competition teams 1317B and 1317C, both of which just earned a place at the National Competition (3rd time in 4 years) this week in Dallas.

Horsepower took home 2nd place (1317C) and 3rd place (1317B), Judges Choice Award, Exemplary Team Award, and Overall Best Design Award.  These Colts have put in hours, lived through headaches, crashes and then showed up and represented Colt Country at the highest level so if you have any of them in class please wish them luck Thursday and Friday.

Check out the pics…YES your COLTS built these drones…NO they are not kits or store bought…everything is an AHS ORIGINAL!!!

Special shoutout to Oliver Clarke as he was invited by Droneblocks to be a guest speaker on a technical panel at this weekends competition; he will be speaking and answering question about programming languages, specifically ROS2 and MAVLink, and how to integrate them drones.   This young man took on challenges not thought of by the developers of the drone software and mastered it in days, catching their attention and asking him to assist making this part of Droneblocks future drone platforms.  He is 1 of only 2 high school students on the panel…Lets go Oliver (thank you Band for sharing him 😊).
