Back to School Need-to-Know! Sneek-A-Peek, Colt Camp for Freshmen Message fro, Mrs. Humbles, Principal

Hi Colts,

We have a fun evening planned for your student once they receive their schedule on 8/7. Colt Camp and Sneak-a-Peek are great ways for our students to learn where their classes are going to be before the first day of school!

Schedules will be available for viewing in Student Self Serve on 8/7 at 3pm.

Colt Camp

Who: FRESHMEN and any student NEW TO AHS, Parents invited!

When: 8/7, Check in at 4:30

Where: The Cube (Main Entrance off Cooper)

Register for the event!

This is a fun event for anyone new to Arlington HS. Students will have a chance to get an early look at the building, meet other new Colts, learn about our AHS traditions, and check out the clubs and organizations offered at AHS. Parents, we encourage you to attend an informational meeting with Mrs. Humbles in the auditorium while your student makes friends.

Sneak-a-Peek

Who: EVERYONE - Students in all grades, families

When: 8/7 @ 6:30pm, Doors open at 6:15

Where: Enter the Cube, Tour the school

Learn the best routes to take to get from class to class by walking the halls of AHS! You have 1 hour to get through 8 classes, so stop by the room, give the teacher a wave, and then get moving!

600,000 square feet is no joke! Wear comfortable shoes and be ready to get those steps in. We will have spirit items for sale in the Cube (along with lots of seating for any parents or grandparents who get tired along the way and just want to sit down until their student is finished).

For Both Events:

Food or drinks are not allowed while walking through the building. Water is allowed.

Parking: Cube, Gym A, E-Hall, MAC, Gallery. BUSINESSES WILL TOW - ESPECIALLY CHICKEN EXPRESS. AHS Parking Lot Map

Bag Policy: Metal detectors will be in use. Please follow AISD's clear bag policyNote: This policy is for events that include the general public. Students are allowed regular bags/backpacks for school.

Air conditioning: Some areas will be warmer than others as we work through beginning of year HVAC adjustments. Please bring water and wear comfortable clothing.

Registration/Schedule Changes/Parking Passes/etc: None of that will be happening at Sneak-a-Peek. Please refer to previous communication/AHS website/AHS socials for those dates and times.

Parents (and students), our school is huge. HUGE. If this is your first time walking it, you will be overwhelmed. But, you can relax in knowing that everyone feels the same way. AHS has graduated students for over 100 years. 2700 students walked the halls last year and 600 seniors graduated. And every one of them was overwhelmed when they saw how big the school was on their first visit.

And also, even after walking your schedule, you will still be confused on the first day of school. Of course you will. The school is HUGE. But again, everyone will need help on the first day...just like you. The staff is ready for that. We'll be there to help all along the way. From your first minute at AHS to the last.

See you soon!

Sincerely,
Stacie Humbles, Principal
