Dear Families,

What’s SB 12? It’s a new Texas law—effective September 1, 2025—that requires us to have your written consent each year before your child can access certain routine health or counseling services at school. This includes first aid, vision or hearing screenings, guidance lessons, social emotional learning lessons, and brief counseling visits.

Why consent matters:

Without it, your child won’t be able to receive even minor medical (Band-Aids, ice packs, temperature checks) or counseling services here.

You would need to come to school to handle such needs yourself.

Emergency care is not affected. If something serious happens, we will take action and let you know right away.

How you can help: Please review and sign the SB 12 consent form as soon as possible. It ensures your child can get support right away if needed—without interrupting their learning time.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our bears safe, healthy, and supported all year long! Here is the link to the consent form that must be signed for your child to be seen and treated by the school nurse or counselor. One must be completed for each student attending school in AISD. You may also scan the QR Code if needed.

Know Before You Go topic is Dismissal Pick Up. Follow the instructions for an organized pick up. Dismissal can be a hectic and stressful time for parents; following the instructions in a calm manner helps. Check out this quick instructional video and review the map.
School dismisses at 3:35 p.m. In order to ensure the safety of all, we ask the parents to stay in their car for car lane pick up, follow instructions, and remain calm. The first couple of weeks of school tend to be the most challenging while everyone gets adjusted. Our goal is to be finished by 4:00 p.m.
Please make sure that you communicate how your child will be going home: car rider, parent walk up, or student walking home.
If your child’s form of dismissal changes, such as car rider to parent walk up, please Dojo your child’s teacher by 2pm.
Use the car tag from Meet the Teacher. You will be given a car tag with a number associated with your child to help with our dismissal system. Please make sure this car tag is displayed during pick up times to help with our efficiency. Contact your child’s teacher if you need a tag. Car Tags will be provided at a table in the front of the school if you need one.
If your kids are walking home, they will be dismissed at 3:35pm to begin walking.
Thank you for your support and patience!
