My mother would have me help her style family and friends hair with her at the early age of eight. By the time I was 12 years old, I was styling all of my family, friends and people in my community hair on the regular. I love everything about beauty and fashion. I attended Gateway Technical College in Wisconsin where I completed my Barber/Cosmetology training and became a licensed Barber/Cosmetologist in 1997. I left my home salon by the time I was 19 and opened my own salon in 2000 (Yolanda’s Turning Heads). I became the youngest full service Salon owner in my community. During my Barber/Cosmetology schooling, I found a new passion of teaching. Every skill or technique that I mastered, I would share with my instructors and peers. I attended Gateway Technical College to complete my Barber/Cosmetology Instructor license. From Wisconsin to Texas, I am now doing what I love by teaching future stylist, barbers, salon owners, makeup artist, nail tech, estheticians and skin care specialist at one of the best Career and Technology schools in the state of Texas.
