From Mrs. Jenkins:
"Thanks to the Arlington Retired Secondary Educators Association, a grant of $200 allowed me to purchase seventeen copies of Donner Dinner Party, a graphic novel by Nathan Hale.  Using this novel in whole group, my classes got experience with reading a different form of historical fiction and applying the basics of design and art to enable further inference from text.  This was especially useful with students who are new to English and its connotations.  The set of books can now be loaned to other classes as an extra type of independent reading.  Since the topic lends itself to further look at irony and to discuss choices and decisions, it has a number of  educational uses."
