Service, Charity, and Action Arlington FFA volunteers at the Mobile Food Delivery for community members in need.
Since August of this school year Arlington FFA has volunteered at the Mobile Food Delivery through the AISD Food and Nutrition services. They partner with Arlington Charities to pack boxes of food and pass them out to families in our community in need. I wanted to share something really cool that happened yesterday.
Mrs. Valerie Martin is a TA for a student in my class, she has been with me all school year every 2nd period and she has listened to all the things we do in FFA and she came up to me and asked yesterday if she could join us in our volunteering. Yesterday, Mrs. Martin joined our Arlington High School AG students and volunteered from 3:30-6pm packing and passing out boxes of food! I kept thinking the whole time this is what it means to be a COLT. She saw an opportunity available to the students and said I want to help as well. I cannot get over the culture we have here at AHS, the inclusivity we have between teachers, paraprofessionals, custodial and security! They say it takes a village to raise children and I whole heartedly believe we are that village for students!
Secondly, we have consistently had 5-12 ag students from AHS show up to volunteer each month! If you are a sponsor of an organization that needs community service hours they are always looking for student volunteers to come help. If you send me an email I can send you the details its a really good opportunity for students to make a difference in our community!
