One amazing part of high school is becoming a DRIVER! However, you may be confused about how it all works.

VOE - Verification of Enrollment

Happy birthday! In order to get a PERMIT or LICENSE, you must show a VOE from your school. This is proof that you are enrolled and attending school. We issue VOEs in accordance with the 90% attendance requirement. If you've been attending class as the law states, you will go through the easy process of getting a VOE from your AP. If you have too many absences/skips/tardies, you will be placed on an attendance contract and we will re-assess your attendance status after 3 weeks.

To get a VOE:

1. Complete the Request for VOE (available in your AP/attendance office)
2. Wait 24 hours and your AP will have your VOE...or a meeting date to be placed on an attendance contract.

Parking at AHS 

Students must register their vehicles to park at AHS. Parking is not free. Students will pay a fee to park to help cover maintenance and parking lot upgrades. Students on free/reduced lunch will have their fees adjusted or removed. All student (and staff) drivers must have a parking pass to park at AHS. This means you must have a valid license and insurance on your vehicle.

Parking Spot Selection and Painting - Current Drivers

We allow any student driver the opportunity to purchase and paint a spot. Register now and come in person to select a spot.

Date: 8/3/26

Time: 8am - SENIORS and students who want the spot they painted last year (if available). If it's not available, we'll let you pick a new spot.

9am - All Drivers

Date: 8/8 and 8/9

The parking lot will be empty for you! Come to school and set up your spot to paint. Painting your spot is encouraged, but not required. (But it will help with people not parking in your spot!)

After 8/9, students can get with an administrator to set up a time. Or try to come in on your own if your spot is open!

 

I appreciate everyone's commitment to creating excellent student drivers, and while I always enjoy hearing feedback regarding how AHS should improve our students' driving abilities, I ask that everyone take a part in helping student drivers be successful.

Let's all own our part in teaching our students how to drive. If you are driving, have your child watch you (rather than have their face in a phone). Tell them about the rules of the road when you drive. Don't let them drive to school without a license or insurance (this is against the law and we will report it). Remind them to have their parking permit on display and to park in the spot they paid for so they don't get a sticker (or towed).

The mornings and after school are super busy for drivers. We're all in a hurry to get to school, work, and home. Every day, be ready to wait in a line. And remember, horns are for awareness, not anger. Be a helpful driver, not someone just escalating the situation.
