Campus News

Bronco Families,

With our focus on supporting Lamar High School tomorrow, we are rescheduling a couple of events previously scheduled.

-Wacky Wednesday will now be Wednesday, March 29
-PTAs Mother-Son Laser Tag event has been moved to Tuesday, May 9

We are asking ...that our Broncos show their support tomorrow by wearing Navy Blue & Gold.πŸ’™πŸ’›

We are asking that you take a moment and share with your Bronco about this week's events so that they know why we are showing love and support for Lamar tomorrow.

TIPS FOR TALKING WITH CHILDREN ABOUT TRAGIC EVENTS:
Many adults may be wondering how to talk to children and teens about tragic events. Though these conversations are not easy, they are important. The National Association of School Psychologists recommends the following:

-Talk to children and listen to their concerns and feelings.
-Reassure children they are safe and explain all the ways the adults in the family and community are working to keep them safe.
-Answer questions in an honest and age-appropriate manner.
-Limit the use of media exposure.

Parents can also call the National Parent Helpline at 1-855-4A PARENT (1-855-427-2736) to get emotional support from a trained advocate. They are available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

As always, feel free to contact Mrs. Rawal, 682-867-1010 or trawal1@aisd.net, if your child needs additional help with their feelings or reactions to this event. Community mental health resources are available upon request.

Thank you,

Principal Basham

Bronco Families,

We are all saddened to hear about the tragic incident today.

We encourage our community to wear Navy Blue and Gold, Wednesday, March 22 to show our love and support for our Viking community.

Additionally if you would like to support a meal for the staff ...tomorrow, the Lamar High School PTA is collecting donations via Venmo (@LamarHS-PTA).

Our thoughts and prayers are with the students, families and staff at Lamar HS.

Please give your Bronco an extra hug from me tonight.

Principal Basham
