Network Infrastructure
Goal 1
- Provide a robust wireless infrastructure and ubiquitous user experience that is highly accessible, easily maintained, and secure.
Result: In Progress
- New wireless infrastructure was added to augment and/or upgrade infrastructure at selected locations. The wireless infrastructure topology was re-engineered to provide a more robust and highly scalable wireless environment. Some wireless hardware and wireless security initiatives remain in progress and ongoing.
Goal 2
- Implement a district-wide fiber optics WAN infrastructure to increase bandwidth and scalability and improve redundancy and resiliency, while decreasing operational costs.
Result: In Progress
- A high-speed, fiber optic network is currently being installed across the district. This project is ongoing through 2023.
Goal 3
- Leverage the E-Rate program to perform upgrades of district wired and wireless infrastructure at various schools and district locations.
Result: Complete
- LAN and Wi-Fi infrastructure were upgraded at selected locations.
Platform Infrastructure
Goal 1
- Provide a highly available, scalable platform infrastructure that meets current and future needs of the district and leverages modern technology architectures.
Result: In Progress
- New data center architecture was selected and is currently engineered and installed. A server patch management solution was elected and has been implemented.
Goal 2
- Provide high-end, accessible virtual endpoints and workstations for students to support specialized and hybrid learning scenarios.
Result: Complete
- Virtualization hardware was upgraded to provide a high-end virtualized endpoint solution for CTE classes.
Goal 3
- Augment and enhance existing Disaster Recovery strategy to ensure Business Continuity across Tier 1 and Tier 2 technology platforms.
Result: In Progress
- A new backup solution was selected and has been implemented. Data Center operations enhancements have been implemented. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans are under review and development is ongoing.
Goal 4
- Implement file and email data retention rules and policies as established by Records Management and Legal departments.
Result: In Progress
- Data retention rules and policies are currently under review.
Goal 5
- Research and develop strategies to offload home folders and local data storage shares to existing online platforms that allow for secure, remote file accessibility.
Result: In Progress
- A holistic solution for end-user data storage is being evaluated and currently tested in select focus groups.
Cybersecurity
Goal 1: PROTECT
- Develop and implement appropriate safeguards to ensure delivery of critical services.
Result: In Progress
- The district’s security safeguards have been dramatically improved and new protective measures have been implemented. Policies and procedures have been established and implemented. A thorough Cybersecurity Awareness Program has been implemented.
Goal 2: IDENTIFY
- Develop an organizational understanding to manage cybersecurity risk to systems, people, assets, data, and capabilities.
Result: Complete
- Vulnerability programs and policies have been adopted and implemented.
Goal 3: RESPOND
- Develop and implement appropriate activities to take action regarding a detected cybersecurity incident.
Result: In Progress
- Cybersecurity incident response initiatives have been extended to the 2022-2023 school year.
Goal 4: DETECT
- Develop and implement appropriate activities to identify the occurrence of a cybersecurity event.
Result: Complete
- Directory Services and cloud-based environments are monitored, logged, and reviewed on a periodic basis.
Unified Communications
Goal 1
- Create, organize, and consolidate documentation for all Telephony and Unified Communications systems.
Result: In Progress
- An online document repository was established, and numerous systems were documented. End-user documentation is still being developed and reviewed.
Goal 2
- Research the efficiency of existing systems to identify needed changes and improve end user experience.
Result: Complete
- Systems were evaluated, and processes were streamlined using a data-driven approach.
Goal 3
- Upgrade existing Unified Communication infrastructure systems.
Result: Complete
- Aging Public Address systems were upgraded at selected locations.
Goal 4
- Develop District standards for Unified Communications.
Result: In Progress
- District Standards for Unified Communications systems are in development.
Goal 5
- Develop a process for training staff to improve knowledge of our systems.
Result: In Progress
- Training opportunities for staff are being evaluated.
Security
Goal 1
- Provide a modern, robust video surveillance infrastructure environment to enhance the safety and security of the district.
Result: In Progress
- The Video Surveillance System was upgraded, and new cameras installed at most locations. Remaining locations are in the queue to be upgraded in the 2022-2023 school year.
Goal 2
- Provide each location with a modernized, fully integrated, access control system to establish more secure perimeter protection at buildings and campuses.
Result: In Progress
- Access Control upgrades will extend into the 2022-2023 school year.
Goal 3
- Evaluate and document the district’s existing emergency radio communication systems and train appropriate staff to continue its support.
Result: Complete
- The existing emergency radio communications system was evaluated according to best practices and documented.
