The annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is scheduled for Thursday, April 22, 2010. The Arlington ISD will participate in this national observance following specific parameters. Click on this link to download these parameters. Parents should notify the school prior to April 22nd that their child will participate in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.

Science Teacher Featured on READ Poster
Science Teacher Todd Watkins has won the Arlington Public Library's Favorite Teacher Contest. He was the only high school teacher to win out of nine winners. Mr. Watkins's picture will be displayed on one of the READ posters that will be displayed in the schools and all branches of the Arlington Public Library. Congratulations to Mr. Watkins.
FBLA Students Qualify for State
The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students qualified a chapter record 42 members for the State Leadership Conference in April. Our school also earned the Sweepstakes Award for best overall team performance. In addition to proving their academic skills, these young adults conducted themselves with equal parts dignity, humility, and school spirit that would make any educator proud. Please congratulate them on their accomplishment. Mr. Jeff Krieger is the FBLA sponsor.
Students Cross the Line for Haiti
The Bowie Headliners spearheaded the Teens for Jeans Project to help the people of Haiti. State Representative Diane Patrick sent a letter thanking our students and staff for collecting jeans to be sent to Haiti. She writes, "The generosity and compassion demonstrated by everyone at Bowie is remarkable. I am so very proud of all that your school has done to aid in the relief effort". Thanks to Fine Arts teachers Mr. Blount, Ms. Rudy, and Mrs. Trimble for your efforts.
Bowie Belles Win Sweepstakes
The Award-Winning Bowie Belles returned from competition in New Braunfels with multiple sweepstakes trophies. The team won the following: Team Sweepstakes, Officer Sweepstakes, 1st place team modern, 1st place officer military, 1st place officer prop, 2nd place team hip hop, 2nd place in division, Outstanding Presentation, and Outstanding Choreography. The team qualified for Nationals and will be attending in March. The team is coached by Mrs. Glenn.

AcDec Finishes in Top 10
After 5 months of intense lecture and non-stop testing, the Bowie ACDEC team was able to show off their skills at Central HS and finished the competition finishing in the top 10 out of 24 teams. Read more>>

Business Teacher Named Step Team Coach of the Year
Mr. Chris Caldwell, Business Teacher, was named Coach of the Year by the Helping Youth Prepare for Excellence organization. Mr. Caldwell has coached the Step Teams for 10 years and has won more State Championships than any other coach in the State of Texas. Read more>>
