The mission of the James Bowie High School Counseling Department is to address students’ academic and career goals, in addition to supporting their social and emotional needs by providing a proactive, comprehensive and developmentally appropriate program.

Classification Credits

Students are classified according to the number of credits they have earned. Required classification credits are listed below. Reclassifications are made only at the beginning of each school year except for certain situations outlined in AISD Board Policy EIE.
 
10th Grade =  6 Credits
11th Grade =  12 Credits
12th Grade = 18 Credits
 

Recommendation Letters

If you need a recommendation letter please do not wait until the last minute. Give your counselor or teacher a minimum of two weeks to write letters of recommendation. Don’t forget to bring a copy of your resume at the time of the request. You can use Career Cruising to create a resume.

College Visit Days

Seniors are allowed two college visit days for the year. Notify the Attendance Office before you go and don’t forget to take your transcript with you on your college visits.

VERIFICATION OF ENROLLMENT (VOE)

VOE's can be ordered by contacting the Attendance Office at 682-867-4506. Please allow 24 hours to process the request.

Forms

Forms for currently enrolled students including, Social Security forms, child support letters, housing forms, insurance forms and records for immigration/deferred action/dream act are all done in the Main Counseling Office and require 24 hours to process. If you have questions please call 682-867-4521.

Credit by Exam

Credit -by-Exam is a district wide opportunity for students to earn and recover credit. Students and parents should speak with the counselor to discuss the district’s CBE policies and procedures. The student can then make a request to his/her school counselor to schedule the appropriate test during our published testing windows.

Records for Former Students

AISD campuses do not keep copies of diplomas or records. Former students can order records from Records Management online by visiting www.aisdtx.scriborder.com. If you need to order a replacement diploma, contact the Main Counseling Office at 682-867-4521.
