Arlington ISD back to school Kickoff

There’s now less than a month before the eighth annual Arlington ISD Back to School Kickoff event at AT&T Stadium, but there’s still plenty of time to help.

The event, which is slated for 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, is a chance for 10,000 Arlington ISD students to get backpacks filled with school supplies for the upcoming school year. Where do you fit it? Well, in addition to being able to contribute money to buy a backpack, you can also contribute your time by volunteering to help at the event.

We need volunteers for the kickoff!

There are tons of volunteer options, too. You can help distribute backpacks, work at the resource fair, help distribute water, register students to pick up backpacks or just be a floater. The options are endless, and so is the flexibility to help timewise. There are shifts that start at 7 a.m. and others that don’t start until after 10 a.m.

It takes more than 500 volunteers to make the event run smoothly.

“The volunteers at our event are crucial to its success,” said Aaron Perales, the Arlington ISD executive director of equity, access and engagement. “With us returning to an in-person event again this year, we’ll need even more help. We’re fortunate to see familiar faces and organizations helping, but it takes a lot of support.” If you would like to volunteer at the event, please sign up here. The deadline to sign up is July 25. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old. There’s also still time to register to receive a backpack. You can do that here.
