Full scholarships for pre-K 4 students

There are already several ways for students to qualify for free pre-K in the Arlington ISD.

That list is growing for the 2021-22 school year as the Arlington ISD will offer scholarships to families who don’t otherwise qualify for free 4-year-old pre-K.

“This is a big initiative for us,” said Arlington ISD superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos. “We know the importance of starting school at a young age, and a pre-K education is the best way to do that. Providing scholarships is a huge investment for the district, but one that we feel is necessary to set our students up for the best opportunities to succeed.”

To be eligible for the scholarship, a child must be at least four years old before Sept. 1, 2021. Eligible families who don’t qualify for free pre-K and who meet the income guidelines will be considered.

Scholarship priority will be given to children who reside within the Arlington ISD school attendance zones, and proof of income is required for all adults living in the household.

You must register for pre-K before applying for a scholarship. You can download the scholarship application at www.aisd.net/prek. Email the application and all supporting documents to pkscholarship@aisd.net. The deadline for scholarship applications is May 14 and applicants will be notified by May 21.

Scholarship students will be registered at their home campus or the closest school if pre-K seats are not available. Applying for a scholarship does not guarantee eligibility.

In addition to the scholarship opportunities, students can qualify for free pre-K by meeting at least one of the following eligibility requirements:

  • The child of an active-duty member of the United State armed forces or a member of the armed forces who was injured or killed while serving on active duty
  • Is or ever has been in foster care
  • Child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award
  • Homeless
  • Unable to speak and comprehend the English language
  • Educationally disadvantaged; eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program.

Remember, registration for pre-K is going on now. Register today for the 2021-22 school year at www.aisd.net/prek.
