Dear Parents and Legal Guardians,
In accordance with EHAA (LOCAL), the Arlington Independent School District provides human sexuality instruction in compliance with law and Board policy. As required by law, the District must obtain written consent before a student can be provided human sexuality instruction.
Your student will have the opportunity to participate in the district-approved Growth and Development Program this spring. This program is provided to all students in grades 4 through 6 and will be taught during physical education class in May 2025.
4th-5th Grade: Always Changing and Growing Up (Procter & Gamble)
6th Grade: Growing Up! (Marshmedia)
Boys and girls will watch these videos separately, facilitated by a certified teacher. The content aligns with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Health Education §115: 4th Grade, 5th Grade, 6th Grade
This program is designed to:
- Recognize the importance of personal hygiene and self-care
- Develop healthy habits, including nutrition and self-care
- Understand the physical and emotional changes of puberty as a normal part of development
- Feel comfortable discussing puberty-related questions with parents and trusted adults
Parents & guardians are welcome to:
- Review the Growth and Development materials
- Opt their child out of any part of the unit without academic or disciplinary consequences

Permission process:
Parents/guardians will complete and return the form provided by the campus to allow or decline participation. Students who opt out will receive alternative lessons.
