    Third Grade Water Safety Program

Arlington ISD is proud to provide all third-grade students with the opportunity to participate in our Water Safety Program at the Arlington ISD Natatorium. This engaging, hands-on experience is designed to help students develop essential water safety knowledge and skills that can help prevent aquatic accidents and promote safe behavior around water.

    Program Goals

Through classroom instruction and in-water activities, students will:

    • Increase Water Safety Awareness
Learn important safety practices for pools, lakes, rivers, and other aquatic environments.
    • Assess Swimming Skills
Participate in a basic swim evaluation that provides valuable feedback to parents regarding their child's current swimming ability and comfort level in the water.
    • Learn Emergency Response Strategies
Review how to recognize water-related emergencies and understand appropriate actions to take when help is needed.
    • Understand Rescue Equipment
Become familiar with essential water rescue tools and learn how they are used to assist individuals in distress.
    • Practice Life Jacket Safety
Demonstrate and experience the proper fitting, use, and effectiveness of Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs), commonly known as life jackets.

Our goal is to empower students with the knowledge and confidence to make safe decisions around water while encouraging lifelong water safety habits.
