Accountability Update: Arlington ISD Doubles A-Rated Campuses and Reduces F Ratings

Arlington ISD is seeing results and they’re strong. According to the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) latest accountability ratings, the district has doubled the number of A-rated campuses, slashed the number of F-rated campuses from 14 to 9, and improved districtwide performance.

Key wins include:

  • A district score increase from 74 to 76
  • 48 campuses raised their scores, with an average 7-point gain
  • 32 campuses improved their TEA letter grade
  • 12 campuses rose from a D or F to an A, B, or C

While these official results mark a clear upward trend, they don’t reflect the full story. Arlington ISD submitted 4,370 STAAR rescore requests on time and with proper documentation.  Unfortunately, TEA didn’t process these rescores in time to include our correct scores in the state accountability ratings. That’s why we’ve made the decision to appeal our accountability ratings because every student success deserves to be counted.

The district’s internal review of those rescores shows significant additional gains:

  • 935 students improved their test scores
  • 616 students advanced to a higher performance level
  • 39 students met graduation criteria due to improved End of Course (EOC) scores

“These results reflect real academic progress,” said Superintendent Dr. Matt Smith. “We’ve appealed the ratings because our students’ success deserves full recognition.”

You can view the district and campus accountability ratings online at txschools.gov. The district will publish complete campus-level results including the impact of STAAR rescores once the appeal process concludes.

For now, the message is clear: Arlington ISD is rising, and the momentum is building.
