Chester Caleb, or C.C., Duff was born to a pioneer Texas family in Hamilton County on June 3, 1897. He was the youngest of seven children. Duff earned his bachelor’s from Howard Payne College in Brownwood and his master’s from SMU. Duff taught for 35 years, the last 12 as the physics teacher and Camera Club sponsor at Arlington High School. Students referred to him as C-squared.

During Duff’s career, he taught all of the sciences at one time or another. His common-sense approach to teaching and problem solving made him a favorite and much-beloved teacher by the students at Arlington High.
