Dr. Truett C. Boles grew up in Littlefield, Texas, a small town northwest of Lubbock. His father was a high school principal and his mother taught school at one time. He attended Texas Tech University. He and his wife Beth moved to Arlington in January 1957, and he became the city’s first certified pediatrician.
Boles led the AISD through a period of rapid growth as a member of the Board of Trustees. He served on the school board for 15 years (1966-1981), and he held the office of board president eight times. His name is on the dedication plaques of 25 buildings in the district.
Boles Junior High was dedicated on Sunday, October 25, 1987. Boles retired as a pediatrician in 1988.
