Harold and Lucy Key were long time educators in the AISD. Together they taught a total of 40 years in the AISD.

Mr. Key received his B.S. in math and his Master’s in education at TCU.  He taught in Graham, Mineral Wells and Pilot Point before coming to Arlington. From 1953-54, he taught math at Arlington High, then became vice-principal at the new Arlington High School from 1955-63. He became the principal of Sam Houston High School in 1963 and continued until his retirement in August 1972.

Mrs. Key received her B.S. degree at Oklahoma College for Women and her Master’s in education at North Texas State in Denton. She taught in Verden, Oklahoma and Pilot Point before coming to Arlington. Mrs. Key taught 4th grade at West Side Elementary in 1953-54 and then spent the next 20 years at C. B. Berry Elementary. She retired in 1974.
