#Certification opportunity: Cosmetology Operators License Cosmetology is a two-year program intended for students who have a passion for the beauty industry and who strive to obtain their Texas Cosmetology Commission State Operator License. The student is expected to pass both the state written and practical exams before graduation. Both parts of the written exam and the practical application exam must be passed in order to obtain licensure. Classroom instruction includes sterilization and sanitation processes, chemical principles involving the use of hair and beauty products, shampooing, hair cutting and styling, coloring, permanent waving, manicuring and pedicuring. Students must complete 24 course credits in the Cosmetology program before being eligible to take the written exam. Students must first pass the written exam and then must obtain an additional 3 course credits for a total of 27 credits in order to take the practical exam. Regular attendance in class is a priority and all passing assignments, quizzes and tests are mandatory per TDLR. Students will attend 4 class periods on their designated scheduled day.
