PV Texas History, Geography

In this modified course students study the history of Texas from early times to the present. The content includes the cultures of Native Americans, the eras of mission-building, colonization, revolution, republic, and statehood. Students identify regions of Texas and the distribution of population within and among the regions. Students describe the structure and function of municipal, county, and state governments and the influence of the U.S. Constitution on the Texas Constitution. Primary and secondary sources are used to examine the diverse cultural background of Texas and the contributions of the different racial and ethnic groups. Access to this course is determined by the ARD committee and is based on a student’s IEP.
