Symphonic Orchestra at the eighth grade level will include a study of string techniques leading to the performance of advanced literature. This is an advanced level orchestra consisting mostly of eighth graders and the most advanced seventh graders. Other features of this program at this level encompass experiences with symphonic music with the addition of woodwinds, brasses, and percussion to the string orchestra. Much attention will be given to solo and ensemble playing to advance individual skills. Students in the Symphonic Orchestra may be required to attend rehearsals outside the school day and are required to attend all performance events.
