Board Brief – Oct. 16, 2025

The Arlington ISD’s Board of Trustees meeting on Oct. 16, 2025, is in the book, and here are a few of the highlights.

Williams Elementary sixth grader Isabella Rubio started the meeting by leading everyone in the pledges of allegiance. Thank you, Isabella, you did a great job!

Then the board recognized Seguin High School assistant principal Dr. Shana Moore. Dr. Moore was recently named the Region 11 High School Assistant Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals. Congratulations Dr. Moore.

The board also appointed a new chief financial officer. They removed the “interim” tag off Norberto Rivas’ title and named him the permanent CFO. Congratulations, Norberto.

The board then heard several reports from senior administrators, including one from Dollores Johnson, executive director of human resources. She gave an update on the district’s progress in exploring the Teacher Incentive Allotment, or TIA. The HR department has been studying the program since last year and gathering teacher and stakeholder input. They will continue to gather stakeholder input for the next several months and then aim to bring a recommendation to the board in the spring.

Later, trustees approved appointments for two committees that will advise the board. The first is a new Capital Needs Steering Committee that will consider facility and capital needs in the district. And the second is the School Library Advisory Council. The SLAC mainly comprises parents and will help guide the board with library material acquisitions.

Finally, the board approved an updated interlocal agreement the district has with Tarrant County College and the Arlington Fire Department. These partners help Arlington ISD offer the outstanding Fire Academy program at the Dipert Career + Technical Center.

Those are just a few of the highlights from the meeting. If you would like more details on any of these, or any of the items not covered in this Board Brief, please click here to watch the entire meeting.
