Arlington ISD’s facilities team walked into their department meeting this morning expecting a normal start to the day.
Instead, they were met with a surprise.
Employees from Texas Trust arrived with handwritten thank-you notes for every facilities and maintenance employee in Arlington ISD, recognizing their hard work and dedication during the recent ice storm.
Texas Trust assistant vice president of public relations Toni Nichols thanked the team for the critical work they do behind the scenes.
“We want to take a moment to recognize a group whose work often happens behind the scenes and makes all the difference,” Nichols said. “While many stayed home [during the ice storm], you all showed up. You navigated dangerous conditions, transported critical supplies and worked long hours to keep schools open for students, families and staff who depend on them.”
Nichols and her team then handed out the notes to employees gathered for the meeting.
“Strong communities are built by people who show up when it counts,” Nichols said. “So today we simply want to say thank you in a personal and meaningful way.”
Arlington ISD Chief Communications Officer Taina Northington also shared her appreciation, providing breakfast for the team and announcing that they will soon each receive Arlington ISD beanies to help keep them warm during future winter weather.
Corey Robinson, Arlington ISD executive director of facility services, thanked Texas Trust for recognizing the team.
“That’s amazing,” Robinson said. “It’s just part of the job is probably what we all would tell you. But for you all to go out of your way to recognize them speaks volumes and is something we all appreciate.”
Thank you to Texas Trust, and thank you to Arlington ISD’s facilities team for always showing up when it matters most.
