Q&A with trustee Melody Fowler

January is School Board Recognition Month, and our trustees are more than worthy of the honor. Our board members volunteer their time and expertise to guide the direction of Arlington ISD, investing in our entire community’s future.

Today, we’re catching up with trustee Melody Fowler. An educator herself, Fowler was first elected to the school board in 2018 and is a past board president. She’s also the mother of an Arlington ISD grad.

What are you most excited about for the district as we enter 2026?

I look forward to seeing our students succeed whether it be in the classroom, athletics, or on the stage.

Reflect on a moment from this past year that reminded you why you serve on the Arlington ISD Board of Trustees.

I have several. I always enjoy our students’ performances, our Students of the Month, and when students receive academic or athletic recognitions.

Look ahead to 2026 and highlight one hope or priority you are excited to support as a trustee.

My hope for 2026 is that every student feels supported, challenged, and seen – academically and emotionally.

What is your favorite City of Arlington annual festival/parade/tradition?

I love the City of Arlington’s parades, but especially the 4th of July parade. This parade seems to really bring our city together.

Tell us about a campus tradition, event, or student activity you secretly look forward to every year.

I love our AISD graduations. Sitting on the stage, I get an up-close look at the graduates’ faces as they cross the stage, faces beaming with pride.

Reveal one thing you learned from students this year?

One thing I learned from students this year is their incredible resilience and determination – even in challenging circumstances.
