The Arlington ISD’s Board of Trustees meeting on Feb. 19, 2026, is in the books, and here are a few of the highlights.
Bryant Elementary sixth grader Johnathane Gaffney started the meeting by leading everyone in the pledges of allegiance. Johnathane did a great job!
Then the trustees gave out Board Honors. First, they congratulated a group of incredible sixth grade GT students from Morton Elementary, who earned first place in the middle school division of the SIFMA Foundation Stock Market Game. They competed against teams from across the state and came out on top with their mock $100,000 investment. Congrats to these students!
Then the board recognized the Arlington ISD Budget Department for receiving the Meritorious Budget Award from the Association of School Business Officials International. This is a big deal that honors the district’s commitment to sound fiscal management, strong budgetary practices and clear, transparent financial reporting. We want to thank our budget team for their great work.
After the Board Honors, the trustees approved the Notice of Election for two seats on the Arlington ISD Board of Trustees. The seats for Places 6 and 7 on the board will be on the May 2 ballot.
The closing of Blanton Elementary at the end of this school year requires rezoning for our Blanton students. So, the board approved the necessary boundary changes at last night’s meeting. Blanton students will be zoned for Burgin, Crow, Goodman, or Swift next year.
The board has also been working on developing a new vision statement for Arlington ISD, and approved the following new statement at the meeting:
Arlington ISD creates exceptional learning experiences that inspire all students, empower their dreams, and prepare them for the future.
Finally, the board approved an interlocal agreement with Region X Multi-Region Purchasing Cooperative. This gives the district legal access to the goods and services bid through the cooperative and ultimately saves the district money.
Those are just a few of the items from the agenda. If you would like more information on any of these items or any of the items not covered in the Board Brief, please click here to watch the entire meeting.
