Watch Board Brief from school board meeting on Jan. 22, 2026
Posted in on January 23, 2026

Arlington ISD’s Board of Trustees meeting on Jan. 22, 2025, is in the books, and here are a few of the highlights.

Berry Elementary fifth grader Neizan Mejia started the meeting by leading everyone in the pledges of allegiance. Thank you, Neizan, you did a great job! Then seven members of the Arlington High School Symphony Orchestra performed a beautiful piece called “Mystical Mage.”

After the music, the board heard a presentation from the Capital Needs Steering Committee co-chairs. The CNSC completed its work this month assessing the district’s facilities and capital needs. They came to the board yesterday with their recommendation that the board call for a bond election to meet some of those needs. The committee gave multiple options, and the board will need to make a decision in February. Learn more about the CNSC and its work at aisd.net/cnsc.

The board also received the results from an independent curriculum audit that wrapped up in December. The results will give the district actionable insights as we constantly aim to improve student achievement.

The board also approved the academic calendar for the 2026-2027 school year. Thank you to all of the members of the calendar committee who worked very hard to build this calendar. The calendar will be posted soon on the district’s website.

Finally, thank you to the art students from Little Elementary who presented masterpieces to each trustee tonight. January is School Board Appreciation Month, so the students – under the guidance of art teacher Erin Williams – presented each trustee with framed artwork they made tied to this years’ theme, “Our Future is Public.” They did a wonderful job!

Those are just a few of the highlights from tonight. If you would like more details on any of these, or any of the items not covered in the Board Brief, please click here to watch the entire meeting.
