Board hears presentation from demographer
Arlington ISD’s Board of Trustees meeting on April 17, 2025, is in the books, and here are a few of the highlights.
Daniel Owobumuyi, a fifth grader from Remynse Elementary, started the meeting by leading the pledge of allegiance, and he did a great job. Thanks, Daniel.
The board received several presentations during the meeting. The first was from Zonda Education, the district’s demographer, who gave an update on current and projected enrollment trends. Understanding these trends is critical for planning and helps the district make informed decisions regarding campus capacity, budgeting, zoning and more.
The board also received a presentation from George Williford, Hilltop Securities managing director. He gave a financial analysis with details on current and projected debt capacity for the district, including potential tax rate implications associated with a future bond. This is helpful as the district looks ahead at facility needs and the financial capacity to support a future bond program.
Norberto Rivas, the district’s assistant superintendent of financial services, then gave a budget outlook presentation. He talked about the timeline and the status of the budget development process in this legislative funding year to assist the board with understanding the financial direction of the district.
Finally, the board approved the purchase of a list of instructional materials and technological equipment to support learning in the classroom. These resources will be purchased through the Instructional Materials and Technology Allotment to support programming for the 2025-2026 school year. The IMTA is a biennial allocation from the state with the specific funding amount determined by the Texas Education Agency to support the purchase of instructional materials, technology equipment and certain related software.
Those are just a few of the highlights from tonight’s meeting. If you would like more details on any of these, or any of the items not covered in this Board Brief, please click here to watch the entire meeting.
