Arlington ISD offers Pregnancy Related Services (PRS) supports, including Compensatory Education Home Instruction (CEHI) for eligible students during the pregnancy and postpartum periods. This program is designed to assist both male and female students in the dual role of parent and student to complete their high school graduation and prepare for college and career goals.

Compensatory Education and Home Instruction:

CEHI is the mandatory support service component districts offer in a PRS program. CEHI provides academic services to the student at home or hospital bedside when a valid medical necessity for confinement during the pregnancy prenatal or postpartum periods prevents the student from attending classes on a district campus. CEHI must consist of face-to-face contact with a certified teacher of the district providing academic services to the student.=

Services:

SOS department staff are assigned to school campuses at the secondary level in order to coordinate and provide services to pregnant/parenting students.  Our staff work in collaboration with campus staff and other departments to help facilitate student access to resources that may include:

  • Case Management
  • Schedule modifications
  • Child Care
  • Home Instruction
  • Transportation
  • Counseling Services
  • Health Services
  • Parenting Instruction
