Pause in Hiring General Education Substitute Teachers

Due to our current staffing levels and the limited number of substitute assignments available, we have temporarily paused hiring and onboarding of new General Education Substitute Teachers.  It is important that our current substitutes have adequate opportunities to accept available assignments.

Retired teachers are always welcome and encouraged to apply at any time. We will also continue to hire Bilingual and Special Education Substitute Teachers, as well as Classroom Assistant Substitutes, based on our current staffing needs.

We will continue to monitor our staffing needs and we will resume hiring General Education Substitute Teachers when additional substitutes are needed. We appreciate your interest in Arlington ISD and encourage you to check back for future opportunities. A further update will be published on December 1, 2026.
