Arlington ISD is pleased to announce that Andrew Babcock has been named the executive director of fine arts. He had been the interim director since March, and previously served as director of the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, where he led programming and student experiences since August 2024.
Babcock brings extensive experience at the district and university levels. As executive fine arts director in Lubbock ISD, he led districtwide programming, managed a multimillion-dollar budget, and built partnerships that connected students to professional-level performance opportunities. Babcock has also worked as a band director at secondary schools and at Lubbock Christian University.
His work has consistently focused on one thing: access.
From expanding mariachi and piano programs to launching partnerships with performing arts organizations, Babcock has made it clear that fine arts are for every student, not just a select few.
“Art is one of the most powerful tools we have to engage students,” Babcock said. “When we remove barriers for teachers, we open doors for students.”
In Arlington ISD, that mindset matters.
