All arts for all at Corey and Jones
The Arlington ISD prides itself on being one of the top fine arts districts in the state.
You don’t have to look hard to find out why.
If you were part of the 500,000-plus people who watched the Texas Rangers World Series parade last month, you saw it was the Arlington ISD marching bands that kicked off the parade.
If you’re a fan of “The Voice,” you may recognize contestant Elizabeth Evans who cultured her love of fine arts at Key Elementary, Young Junior High and then Martin High School.
We’re that kind of district, and students can start their love for fine arts and dual language at a young age.
The application window for our two fine arts and dual language elementary academies is now open!
This is perfect for the student who loves to sing like Evans, dance, put on backyard plays or has a love for music and theater. Students also get 50/50 immersion in English and Spanish, giving them a head start in being bilingual. Students will be able to build fluency in both languages throughout the program.
The program starts in kindergarten at both Jones Academy (for students residing north of Pioneer Parkway) and Corey Academy (for students south of Pioneer Parkway). Transportation is provided to both schools, too.
The Arlington ISD doesn’t think a student’s love of fine arts and dual language should end in elementary either. Students can continue the track at Gunn Junior High and Fine Arts and Dual Language Academy. Then students in the program will now have the opportunity to continue that track through high school at Arlington High School.
But all the fun starts in kindergarten at Corey and Jones. That’s where half the day classes are taught in English and the other half in Spanish. That’s where they can decide if music, visual arts, dance, drama or piano is their passion. They’ll have that chance because we want all arts for all students at our fine arts and dual language schools.
They’ll learn in state-of-the-art facilities that include strings rooms, piano practice rooms, a black-box theater, dance studio and art lab.
Students get all these opportunities while receiving the whole-child education that every other Arlington ISD elementary student receives. And it’s all FREE!
