Bentley Steele, a student from Ashworth Elementary, kicked off the meeting by leading the pledge of allegiance. Bentley did a fantastic job.

Finances are always one of the main meeting topics, and the board approved the monthly financial report on operations through August.

If you watched the board meeting on Sept. 19, you saw that the board adopted five priorities for the district in 2024-2025. They include academic growth, culture, safety and discipline, marketing and engagement, and resources. Last night, trustees adopted key performance measures to help the district achieve those five priorities.

Each year the board adopts campus performance improvement objectives for the district, and tonight the board approved them for the 2024-2025 school year.

The board also approved the members for this year’s Student Health Advisory Council, which is made up primarily of parents. The SHAC helps the district implement nutrition guidelines and wellness criteria and also provides recommendations concerning health education curriculum.

Finally, the board approved the district’s annual contract with the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is a great partner with the district, and they run the What’s Your Big Idea entrepreneurship contest, along with a number of other programs designed to help students prepare for their futures after high school.

Those are just a few of the highlights from tonight. If you would like more details on any of these, or any of the items not covered in this Board Brief, please click here to watch the entire meeting.
