Arlington ISD is pleased to announce Dr. Ed Henderson II as the new principal at Bebensee Elementary School. Henderson brings 23 years of experience as a teacher, principal, and administrator, improving student outcomes through strong instructional leadership, principal coaching, and school improvement.

Henderson is returning to the Metroplex after several years in Houston ISD, where he served as the Executive Director of Instruction. In Houston, he coached, supervised, and evaluated principals across a multi-campus portfolio. All of his schools earned A or high B accountability ratings, with multiple campuses demonstrating significant year-over-year growth.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Ed Henderson to the Arlington ISD family. His focus on doing what is best for students, coupled with his dedication to accelerate student learning, will be great for the students, families, and staff of Bebensee Elementary School”.

Henderson began his career in education in 2003 as a third-grade math teacher in Dallas ISD. From 2009 through 2015, he served as an assistant principal in Irving ISD and Sherman ISD. He then served as the principal at elementary schools and middle schools in Irving, DeSoto, and Crowley ISDs from 2015 through 2024.

“I am honored and excited to join the Bebensee Elementary community and the Arlington ISD family,” Henderson said. “I look forward to partnering with our students, staff, families, and community to build on Bebensee’s strengths and create exceptional learning experiences where every student is known, supported, and inspired to dream big and reach their full potential.”

Henderson has a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University, a master’s from Prairie View A&M University, and a doctorate in education from Dallas Baptist University.
