What began as a shared vision to inspire the next generation of automotive professionals has evolved into a partnership that continues to make a lasting impact on Arlington ISD students.
This school year marks the third and final year of the collaboration between Ford Motor Company, the Dallas Cowboys and the Automotive Technology program at the Dan Dipert Career + Technical Center (CTC). Together, they’ve created opportunities that give students real-world skills, confidence, and hands-on experience in the automotive industry.
Last week, Ford representatives visited the CTC to meet with Arlington ISD’s future service technicians, sharing insight into the automotive field and the many career paths available through Ford’s dealership network. They were joined by Dallas Cowboys mascot Rowdy, who brought plenty of energy and excitement to the event as he helped celebrate the ongoing partnership.
During the school year, Ford experts and staff will also visit with students during class hours, sharing their knowledge of the automotive industry as it aligns with the curriculum – giving students an even deeper understanding of how what they learn in the classroom connects to real-world applications.
Over the past two years, Ford has donated more than $20,000 in scholarships to help students pursue higher education in college or trade school.
“Ford has generously provided each graduating senior with a professional tool set to help them begin their careers with confidence,” said CTC automotive technology teacher Nicholas Comey. “This year, they expanded their support by purchasing custom automotive shop shirts for every student in the program, helping foster a sense of pride and professionalism in both the classroom and the shop.”
Throughout the school year, students will also take part in job shadowing experiences at local Ford dealerships, gaining firsthand exposure to the many career paths available in the transportation industry – from service and diagnostics to management and customer relations.
The partnership will wrap up in May with a special celebration featuring a Dallas Cowboys player, who will join Ford representatives to present ten $2,000 scholarships to graduating seniors.
“This collaboration has not only opened doors for current automotive technology students but has also laid the groundwork for future practicum courses and internships with local Ford dealerships, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world career success,” said Comey. “It has truly been a privilege to work alongside corporate partners who are committed to supporting local school districts and investing in students’ futures.”
